The organizing committee for the 2018 National Alliance for Broader Impacts Summit is pleased to announce that the theme for the summit will be Creative Communication and Scholarship. The 2018 NABI Summit will be held from April 25-27 in Providence, Rhode Island, and hosted by Brown University. Abstracts addressing any of the following strands will be considered for acceptance for oral or poster presentations at the summit:

This can include, but is not limited to, the use of digital tools and other resources leveraged for broader impacts activities (e.g., science communication and science engagement) among different audiences.
STRAND 2: Epistemology and Theoretical Models for BI Scholarship
This can include, but is not limited to, research-based models and analysis that can be used to broaden the impacts of research and their applications to different BI projects.
STRAND 3: Approaches for Cultivating BI Scholarship and Disseminating BI Best Practices
This can include, but is not limited to, a survey of disciplinary or professional societies’ peer-reviewed journals where BI-related scholarship can be published (and the scope of the scholarly domain), as well as other innovative approaches for disseminating BI best practices, data management platforms, and archiving research products through resources such as open or universities digital repositories.
STRAND 4: Approaches for Cultivating Communication and Capacity Building
This can include, but is not limited to, the university or organization resources (such as communications office or research office) dedicated to communicating the impacts of ongoing funded research to different stakeholders and communication approaches for inspiring and engaging next generation of future scientists and engineers.
This can include other creative ideas which might not necessarily fit within any of the four core strands but are relevant to the theme of the conference.
