Broader Impacts 101
April 25, 2017 • 1–5 p.m.
Do you want to move beyond the basics of engaging a graduate student and developing a website for your broader impacts statement? Would you like to work with others exploring engaging ways of supporting Criterion II and developing broader impacts that benefit society?
We invite you to participate in this half-day pre-conference workshop!
Participants in this pre-conference workshop will:
- Learn the latest background overview of broader impacts – what they are and their evolution and history.
- Engage in hands-on activities that show you how to create, implement, and evaluate your BI activities.
- Learn more about the challenges and benefits of establishing a BI support office at your institution.
This interactive workshop will also give participants the opportunity to work in small groups to brainstorm and plan mock BI projects and then receive feedback from workshop facilitators and other participants. Members of NABI’s Steering Committee will lead this workshop and share their knowledge and experience developing and implementing BIs. Workshop leaders will share BI resources.
Who Should Attend: Broader Impacts 101 is intended to serve both those that are new to the NSF grant writing world and veterans who would simply like to strengthen and enhance their BI skills. It is also ideal for those working in research support and administration at institutions interested in expanding their BI activities or establishing a BI support office at their institution.
How do I register? Pre-registration is required and space is limited to 30 participants. Please see the conference website for details on how to register. There is a cost for the workshop.
